2022 DESA Expert Group Meeting: From Fiscal Stimulus to Looming Fiscal Squeeze

The Economic Analysis and Policy Division in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) hosted the Expert Group Meeting “From Fiscal Stimulus to Looming Fiscal Squeeze” on 3-4 October 2022. Senior fiscal and debt experts from international organizations, governments, academia and the private sector analyzed the risks and potential consequences of fiscal adjustments at a time of growing global needs and identified policy options for developing countries to maintain a supportive fiscal stance and ensure progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The discussion benefited the preparation of the United Nations’ flagship publication World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) 2023.
