Briefing to ECOSOC on the work of the CDP on LDCs

The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) briefed members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on its ongoing work on the least developed countries (LDCs). In her introductory remarks, H.E. Paula Narvaez, Vice-President of ECOSOC, provided a short overview the current state of LDCs vis-a-vis graduation in a world confronted by crisis, the importance of the work of CDP on graduation and the usefulness of frequent interactions between ECOSOC and CDP. During the briefing and in the subsequent question and answer session, CDP members Debapriya Bhattacharya, Annalisa Prizzon and Taffere Tesfachew, presented updates on the enhanced monitoring mechanism for graduating and graduated LDCs, the review of the LDC criteria and their application procedures, preparations for the CDP’s 2024 triennial review of the list of LDCs and support to graduating countries through the sustainable graduation support facility iGRAD.
