CDP at ECOSOC’s Special Meeting on International Cooperation in Tax Matters

On March 31, CDP member and Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Colombia, José Antonio Ocampo, participated in ECOSOC’s 2023 Special Meeting on International Cooperation in Tax Matters, in a panel on the role of the UN in international tax cooperation. While acknowledging existing initiatives, he highlighted the need for further multilateral action in achieving an inclusive, equitable and sustainable international tax order, through inclusive, bottom-up approaches and by building on regional cooperation and existing frameworks. He stated that the UN Convention called for in the resolution for the “Promotion of inclusive and effective international tax cooperation at the United Nations” should be based on a set of principles on governance and should recommend the creation of an intergovernmental body where tax experts representing participating jurisdictions may vote on a new agenda for an equitable and sustainable international tax order.

The recording of meeting is available on UN WebTV.
