EAPD at the Latin American Summit on Communication + Creativity + Innovation + Marketing

Mariangela Parra-Lancourt, Senior Economic Affairs Officer in EAPD’s Development Research Branch, discussed the key findings of the upcoming flagship publication, World Economic and Social Survey 2018: Frontier Technologies for Sustainable Development at +Cartagena, the Latin American Summit on Communication + Creativity + Innovation + Marketing held in Cartagena, Colombia from 3-5 October 2018. Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia, opened the Summit with a presentation on the “Orange Economy”, a vision for a Creative Economy. The Summit invited professionals from different sectors belonging to the Orange Economy and  technology sectors of Latin America and the world. It included experts, government representatives and the private sector to discuss the importance of artificial intelligence, data and its challenges, as well as its analysis for sustainable growth and development. In this context, the discussions on the key findings and recommendations of the Survey were very well received. The Summit was convened by the Colombian Union of Advertising Companies with the support of the Government of Colombia and the participation of UN Women Colombia.
