ePing training for the Gambia

The ePing toolkit developed initially by the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) Secretariat has been credited by least devloped countries (LDCs) and development partners as filling a void, in particular for countries lacking the institutional infrastructure to access key information from trading partners regarding new trade product requirements. Since its official launch in November 2016, the system has had over 3,500 registered users in about 130 countries, and a number of bilateral donors are already using the system in their capacity-building activities in LDCs.

Since the launch of ePing, requests for training and assistance for the implementation of ePing in LDCs have increased. At the same time, there are several LDCs that are not using ePing because they are not aware that this tool exists (LDC representatives often do not have the capacity to participate in events where the system is promoted), putting them at a disadvantage compared to other developing and developed countries who are benefiting from the ePing system already.

Against this backdrop, a training workshop on the ePing trade notification platform was conducted on 3 May in The Gambia with 25 participants from the private sector and various government departments. The workshop was highly successful and appreciated, with active participation by the trainees.
