Briefing to ECOSOC on the ongoing work of the CDP

The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) briefed members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on its ongoing work. In his introductory remarks, H.E. Tarek Ladeb, Vice-President of ECOSOC stressed the importance of the work of the CDP on providing policy advice to the Council and the review of the least developed country (LDC) category. He further emphasized the usefulness of frequent interactions between ECOSOC and CDP. During the briefing CDP Chair Sakiko Fukuda-Parr and CDP Subgroup Chair on LDCs Taffere Tesfachew presented updates on the input of the CDP to the 2024 ECOSOC theme “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions” and the preparations for the CDP’s 2024 triennial review of the list of LDCs.
