2020 CDP Plenary Open Session: Development Policy and New Inequalities

The emergence of new inequalities is the theme of an open session organized by the Committee for Development Policy (CDP). The event, taking place during the 22nd session of the CDP Plenary from 24-17 February 2020, features three CDP members, Adriana Abdenur, Arunabha Ghosh and José Antonio Ocampo. They will present their insights on contemporary challenges and opportunities at the intersection between inequalities and climate change, South-South migration and the shortcomings in the current multilateral system. A discussion will follow the presentations by the speakers.

About the panelists:

Adriana Abdenur Researcher and policy expert at Instituto Igarapé, in Rio de Janeiro, where she coordinates the Peacebuilding Division and leads Conflict Prevention and Resolution initiatives in Latin America and Sub‐Saharan Africa. Founding coordinator of the BRICS Policy Center. She has published widely on South‐South cooperation, the BRICS and global governance, and the nexus between development and security. See more

Arunabha Ghosh Chief Executive Officer of the Council on energy, environment and water in New Delhi. He is a public policy professional, adviser, author, columnist and institution builder and has expertise in global governance, international relations and human development, including climate, energy, trade, natural resources and water, intellectual property, development assistance, conflict and extremism. José Antonio Ocampo He is also Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs, co‐President of the Initiative for Policy Dialogue and Member of the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University. He has published extensively on macroeconomic theory and policy, international financial issues, economic and social development, international trade and Colombian and Latin American economic history. He currently serves as Chair of the CDP. See more
