Introduction of the 2018 CDP Report at the High-Level Segment of ECOSOC

On 16 July the Chair of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP), Professor José Antonio Ocampo, introduced the Committee’s 2018 report, focusing on the CDP’s findings on “Leaving no one behind” at the High-level Segment of the 2018 ECOSOC session. He stressed that meeting the pledge to leave no one behind requires significant changes both nationally and internationally. Professor Ocampo also welcomed the progress of a substantial number of least developed countries towards the shared goal of advancing towards graduation from the category.

CDP contribution to HLPF session on "Leaving No One Behind: are we succeeding?"

One central pledge of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is to ensure that no one is left behind.
On 13 July the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) dedicated an entire session on this theme with a view to synthesize messages from earlier sessions that respond to the challenge of fulfilling the promise of leaving no one behind.

The CDP at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2018

The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) will be participating at various events of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, taking place from 9 - 18 July 2018. The theme of this meeting, convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies.”

CDP Secretariat participation in the UN-OHRLLS Meeting of National Focal Points of LDCs

The Secretariat of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) participated in the Meeting of National Focal Points of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on the Implementation of the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA) from 12-13 July 2018, delivering keynote presentations on “Expanding productive capacity: Lessons learned from graduating LDCs” on 12 July and on “Graduation from LDC status and enhanced support measures for graduating and graduated LDCs” on 13 July.

The High-Level Meeting on Modelling Tools for Sustainable Development Policies: An opportunity to strengthen partnerships for capacity development

The Economic Analysis and Policy Division of UN DESA collaborated with the United Nations Development Programme, UN Regional Commissions, international organizations, as well as universities and research institutions, to develop modelling methodologies and provide capacity development programs to support country-tailored quantitative analysis that can effectively inform the policymaking process for national development planning.

CDP Secretariat attends OECD Initiative for Policy Dialogue on Global Value Chains

The CDP Secretariat made a presentation on ‘The Needs and Priorities of LDCs in Economic Transformation’ at the 10th Plenary Meeting of the ‘OECD Initiative for Policy Dialogue in Global Value Chains, Production Transformation and Development’ taking place from 27 to 28 June, at OECD headquarters in Paris.
