A workshop on Modelling Tools for Sustainable Development Policies was held at UN Headquarters today featuring the launch of a new web-based platform to strengthen countries’ capacities to formulate their national strategies for sustainable development. “The website is a platform to make the modelling tools used in our capacity development projects widely available,” ASG for Economic Development Lenni Montiel explained.

The report projects a modest improvement for the world economy in 2016/17 as a number of cyclical and structural headwinds persist. Global growth is estimated at a mere 2.4 per cent in 2015 and is forecast to grow by 2.9 per cent in 2016 and 3.2 per cent in 2017.

From 5 to 6 November the Secretariat of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) conducted a training workshop on the use of the ePing electronic alert system in Geneva, Switzerland. The workshop introduced participants to the ePing system, provided hands-on training, discussed national experinces in the implementation of ePing and identified cooperation opportunities with international partners for its global implementation.
